Tarn Hows Lake District Travel Poster
Tarn Hows, Lake District Travel Poster.
An original travel print featuring the picturesque 'Tarn Hows' in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria. A Tarn is another name for a small mountain lake.
Tarn Hows or The Tarns is one of the most visited beauty spots in the Lake District. Surprisingly, the tarn is technically a man made lake, created from three smaller tarns, known as High Tarn, Low Tarn and Middle Tarn. The stream which joined the tarns was dammed in the 19th century.
